Description
In February of 2013, LCHS moved to 825 Thornwood Drive in Heath, OH. The new facility which is 6400 square feet and houses 40 dogs/60 cats at any given time. It sits on 4 acres. The facility contains an isolation area for ill animals, vet exam room, freeroaming cat rooms, community wellness area for low-cost spay/neuter services, and a bark park where volunteers exercise the dogs. The LCHS is operated primarily through fundraising, grants, and donations. Adoption fees are another source of revenue. LCHS has contracts with local municipalities to provide humane agent services. Revenue earned is utilized to operate the shelter and provide/plan for the care and wellbeing of our animals. The Licking County Humane Society operates an animal shelter, providing care to homeless, abused and neglected animals in our community. We strive to place those animals into loving, permanent adoptive homes. LCHS also provides a pet food pantry to needy pet owners, coordinates low cost spay/neuter/vaccine services to the public, investigates cruelty cases, delivers dog obedience classes, provides pet re-homing services to families experiencing crises and provided 1853 pets with medical care and loving homes in 2017. We also provide other outreach services to the community, including programs for senior citizens and services to feral, unowned cats in our neighborhoods. We are a managed-intake shelter. Animals are never euthanized for space or convenience.
