At Evercare Hospice and Palliative Care our volunteers have a knack for knowing how to bring "JOY" to our patients whether it be through holding hands & sitting in silence or possibly listening to the patient talk about their life and telling the same story more than once! It could be movie day where you watch television or a favorite movie (ask what their favorite movie is and bring with you). Take the patient for a walk in the garden where they can feel the sun shining on their face again or hear the birds singing and see flowers in bloom. What ever it is that makes them feel alive, wanted, special and most of all loved by someone - then we are doing what we should be doing and that is paying it forward. All volunteers must attend a training session, submit to a 2 step TB test, drug screening, criminal background check and we offer the Hepatitis B vaccination which is optional, all at no charge to the volunteer. Hope to hear from you!
