Do you want to jump right in and begin helping, working directly with homeless youth, but you only have 1 or possibly 2 evenings a month to help? Outreach Assistants are a brand new role on our outreach teams and will be vital in facilitating the best support to the homeless youth we see while out on the streets each week.

As Outreach Assistant, you help with some of the logistical parts of outreach as well as on the front line with the kids. You’ll take turns picking up and returning the outreach supply bag to our downtown storage location and then you’ll work with the rest of the team providing supplies to the kids we meet on the street. While you’re helping kids get what they need, the Outreach Counselors will work to get to know the kids and spend time finding the best way we can help.

As an Outreach Assistant, you’ll get a bird’s eye view of outreach and a chance to evaluate if your next step is Outreach Counselor, or if you’re perfectly happy with what you’re doing.

Outreach Assistant can be an interesting and rewarding role with StandUp For Kids that can easily fit into a busy schedule. We’d love to have you be an important member of our outreach teams, helping the kids see that there are people who care about them!

Mission Statement

Our core mission is ending the cycle of youth homelessness. We are committed to providing hope and encouragement to homeless and street youth, one youth at a time. We carry out our mission through our volunteers who go to the streets in order to find, stabilize and otherwise help homeless and street kids improve their lives.

Description

Seattle program has created a core leadership group, implemented a solid training program and continues to recruit and train volunteers. We started our street outreach efforts on Capitol Hill in June 2009. Our Street Outreach counselors go to the streets to reach out to homeless and at-risk youth. We connects with homeless and at-risk youth to let them know that there are people who are concerned about their well-being and are there to help.

This critical bonding is the first step towards helping these kids get off the streets and live a better life.
