ORGANIZATION: OPTUM Palliative & Hospice Care (formerly Evercare Hospice)

  • 32 people are interested

We at Evercare Hospice & Palliative Care are looking for people just like you to volunteer your time with patients on Hospice. Your visits will make the time left to our patient very precious. Each patient has a life limiting illness and would benefit from volunteer visits tremendously. Sitting with the patient and holding their hand, reading to them, listening to music or watching TV would be helpful and most of all make them feel special, loved, wanted and not alone and isolated. Our goal is to make our patients as comfortable as possible, spiritually, physically and emotionally. A touch, a kind word and just your presence during this time will make an impact on the life they have left to live. It is an honor to share someone’s last days and you can be part of making these days as memorable and loving as possible. All volunteers receive comprehensive hospice training before entering the patient’s home. We also require each volunteer to receive a 2 step TB test, drug screening and criminal background check, Hepatitis B vaccination is offered but is optional. All medical tests and background check are at no charge to the volunteer. Hope to hear from you!

  • Pain and symptom management and control
  • Psychological and spiritual support
