At Gentiva Hospice we honor our Veterans! The Veteran-to-Veteran Program aims to pair Veteran volunteers with Veteran hospice patients. Veteran volunteers have the unique ability to relate and connect with Veteran patients, promoting an environment in which life review and healing may occur. Veterans are part of a distinct culture with their own common language. The camaraderie created between Veterans has proven to be supportive for all those involved.
Veteran Volunteers at Gentiva have a variety of activities to choose from including assisting Veterans in reminiscing and telling life stories, taking part in pinning ceremonies, and helping in organizing Veterans Day events. Veterans have given so much to our country! Now it's our turn to give back to them. Change a life and donate your time to a Veteran in hospice today!

Description
Hospice is not a place; it is a philosophy of care that enhances life as it nears its end for terminally ill patients and their families. When medicine cannot provide a cure, hospice care offers comfort and assistance to help maintain a better quality of life for the patient and family.
This type of attention, called palliative care, involves the aggressive treatment of physical, emotional and spiritual pain and symptoms. It focuses on enhancing patient comfort and quality of life, and provides psycho-social and spiritual support for both patients and their loved ones. Gentiva believes that through sensitive, appropriate care and the support of a caring community, patients and families can begin to prepare to face the inevitable challenges ahead.
