Summer Camp Counselors Needed! The Muscular Dystrophy Association is looking for individuals with big hearts and a strong work ethic for one week during the summer. You will get the rewarding experience of providing the assistance needed to ensure your camper's participation in fun-filled and exciting activities! MDA provides all the training! Camp Week One is Saturday, June 17th to Saturday, June 24th, and Camp Week Two is Saturday, June 24th to Saturday, July 1st. Please contact Hannah Hickam@ 303-691-3331, or reply to this ad via email.

You need to be at least 18 years of age and able to pass a United States background check. Becuase this is a camp full of children, we can not disclose the address of the camp on the internet, but are able to say that it is in Empire Colorado. A description of MDA Summer Camp is below for your consideration.

MDA Summer Camp features a wide variety of activities that the children enjoy, including: swimming, zip-lining, fishing, hiking & horseback riding. Our camp programs are conducted in an atmosphere that gives campers an unmatched opportunity to develop lifelong friendships, share interests & build self-confidence. MDA camp builds bridges & knocks down barriers, fostering a sense of self-worth in young people with disabilities & a greater understanding in their able-bodied counselors. Our campers are paired with a volunteer camp counselor who is with them throughout the entire week. This one-to-one ratio helps to ensure adequate care is provided for each of our campers. Many of our volunteers truly become a part of the MDA family & continue to return to camp year after year. The camp is also staffed by a comprehensive volunteer medical team, some of which staff Colorado care centers. Camp also provides a vital respite for the parents of kids living with muscular dystrophy. Many parents act as full-time caregivers for their children & this can be an exhausting job. Some parents wake up as many as 5 times a night to reposition their child in bed, something their child does not have the strength to do on their own. Camp allows for the parents to rest, take a much needed vacation, & spend time with their other children, all while knowing their child is in good hands. MDA Summer Camp allows our parents to refresh, regroup & prepare to take on the next 51 weeks. Children between the ages of 6 & 17 attend summer camp at no cost to their families. MDA summer camp is a special place offering a wide range of activities specifically designed for youth living with a physical disability. Camp is a place where campers can build lifelong friendships, gain the self-confidence & independence that is critical to living longer and growing stronger and most importantly have fun. Campers say that the week they spend at MDA summer camp is "the best week of the year".
