Connections and You, Inc currently has a very comprehensive mentoring program called The Distinguished Gentlemen's Club. We serve children that live in Berkeley, Dorchester and Charleston Counties. We mentor children who have challenges with their behavior, lack of positive character, low self-esteem, and/or academics. Our children are 8 to 17 years old and come from diverse backgrounds. We have bi-weekly meetings where we teach various character traits based on biblical principles. Our program is a reward based program, we take the children on monthly outings for leisure and educational purposes. Each child is assigned one Mentor to monitor their growth in the program. The Mentors stay in contact with the children weekly and serve as a positive role model in their lives. The program is effective because of the consistent dedication of all our volunteers. Many of our children are use to people giving up on them, because of this, when they don't do what is expected of them, we continue to work with them. Showing them a more excellent way. We also need volunteers to assist with fundraising, event planning, administration, graphic design, web design, and more.

Description
Welcome to Lowcountry Youth Services, where our vision is that "Every Child Wins". Here at Lowcountry Youth Services, we offer several programs that provide Berkeley, Charleston and Dorchester county youth with the tools they need to succeed in every area of their lives. Life is challenging at times, and for some children, it’s more challenging than normal. Our 1-on-1, group mentoring and youth development programs address these needs, and our programs are intentional about providing positive role models and teaching children various life, social, and problem-solving skills.
Our programs are available to young people from all ethnic, social and economic backgrounds. It doesn’t matter if a child is a straight-A student who happens to be distracted by a traumatic situation at home or a child who has been charged with multiple juvenile offenses, and labeled "high-risk". The reality is every child can benefit from structured support, and every child can win if given the opportunity!
