Literacy Center of West Michigan
Volunteer as a Tutor in our Adult Tutoring Program. Tutors provide two hours a week of one-on-one English/Reading instruction to a native or a non-native speaker of English, for a minimum of six months. Each pair chooses where and when they would like to meet. Tutors and learners are provided with individualized support and materials.
Recent statistics reveal that approximately 20% of adults in Grand Rapids and the greater Kent County are low-literate, meaning they struggle to read everyday materials. Currently, we have a large number of learners waiting for a volunteer tutor who can help with language and reading skills.
Join our team of volunteers today by calling the Literacy Center of West Michigan at 616-459-5151 or by going to our web page wwww.literacycenterwm.org

"Bringing about a just and vibrant West Michigan through the power of literacy."
The Literacy Center of West Michigan's Adult Tutoring Program offers a valuable service to community members wishing to improve their reading and language skills. We pair volunteer tutors with adult learners in Kent County, and support those pairs as they meet one time per week (for two hours) at a location and time of their choice.
We'll work with your schedule.
