Volunteer as a Coach in our Adult Tutoring Program. Coaches provide two hours a week of one-on-one English/Reading instruction to a native or a non-native speaker of English, for a minimum of six months. Each pair chooses where and when they would like to meet. Coaches and learners are provided with individualized support and materials.
Recent statistics reveal that approximately 20% of adults in Grand Rapids and the greater Kent County are low-literate, meaning they struggle to read everyday materials. Currently, we have a large number of learners waiting for a volunteer coach who can help with language and reading skills.
Post COVID, we have opportunities for either in person or remote/online training and coaching.
Join our team of volunteers today by calling the Literacy Center of West Michigan at 616-459-5151 or by going to our web page wwww.literacycenterwm.org
