Lyngblomsten has many residents and tenants who would benefit from the companionship of a loving dog, cat, rabbit, guinea pig, etc.! Come visit with your pet and help brighten someone's day, especially during the long winter months!
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: The pet owner will work to do the following while visiting residents at Lyngblomsten:
-Provide opportunities for the residents to pet and/or hold animal(s)
-Converse with the residents during the visit
-Provide opportunity for safe, non-threatening interaction
-Dogs and cats must be at least 1 year of age and current on vaccinations (documentation must be provided to Volunteer Services)
-Animals must be well behaved around people and wheelchairs
-Dogs and cats must be potty trained
-Pet owner must be willing to approach residents in a friendly manner and hold brief conversations
TIME COMMITMENT: Flexible. The hope is that pet visits would occur several times a month, but day and time are quite flexible!
TRAINING REQUIRED: The volunteer and their companion animal will spend their first visit at Lyngblomsten accompanied by a Volunteer Services staff person. After that, a list is provided to the volunteer that lists individual residents that enjoy pet visits.
