About

YOU can make a difference in someone’s life!

YOU can brighten the day of a homebound, isolated Elder!

YOU can have fun and get to know someone in your community!

The Adopt-a-Grandparent telephone reassurance program sponsored by Jewish Family Service (JFS) of Bergen and North Hudson, pairs teens with frail, homebound elders in their community. Teens call their "bubbies" once a week to provide companionship and social interaction as well as helping orient the Elder to time and place and assuring their safety and well being. A JFS staff member provides training for all volunteers. The training includes an overview of how to make the call, effective communication with the elderly and recordkeeping. TOUCH A LIFE - ADOPT AN ELDER! You may find you get more than you give!
