TERA (Teens Ending Relationship Abuse) is a volunteer program that provides teens with the training and opportunity to educate their peers in the community and schools about the dynamics of interpersonal violence on all levels but specifically dating abuse, and to heighten awareness and promote prevention. TERA Mentors are adults who provide guidance to the Peer Educators and accompany them to presentations.
Required skills:
- Passion for working with high school students
- Belief in prevention as a key component of a holistic approach to addressing interpersonal violence
- Excellent communication skills (public speaking experience preferred, but not required)
- Organized and able to turn in reports on time
Time Commitment:
- On-Call for TERA Presentations. Presentations are typically 90 minutes long and occur weekdays between 7:30am and 2:30pm (during school hours)
- 2 hour once a month TERA meeting with with Teen Peer Facilitators (late afternoon/early evening)
- Volunteers who can commit to August-June are preferred

* Emergency shelter
* Individual and group counseling
* Case management (including transitional housing programs)
* Information and referrals
* Legal advocacy
* Community and peer education
All services are available in both English and Spanish.
