Shelter General Support Volunteer

Shelter Support Volunteers at Safe Shelter of St. Vrain Valley provide essential support to our Shelter Staff.

Responsibilites:
- Answering crisis calls
- Responding to basic requests from clients
- Assisting staff with basic shelter operations
- Preparing rooms for incoming clients

Required Skills:
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Basic phone and computer skills are necessary
- Ability to maintain composure in busy environments
- Ability to maintain composure with clients functioning in crisis mode
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred, but not required

Time Commitment:
- Currently looking for volunteers to come in on a consistent basis throughout the week for 2- to 4-hour shifts depending on volunteer availability

Description

Safe Shelter of St. Vrain Valley provides a comprehensive system of programs and services to address the needs of victims of domestic abuse:

Our services include, but are not limited to:

* 24-hour crisis line
* Emergency shelter
* Individual and group counseling
* Case management (including transitional housing programs)
* Information and referrals
* Legal advocacy
* Community and peer education

All services are available in both English and Spanish.
