For each staff member to treat every patient as their own treasured loved one, providing care that affords a quality of life that outweighs the quantity of days, and supports caregivers as their hearts find healing.
Hospice is a philosophy of caring for patients whose medical conditions are not responding to treatment or for those who choose not to seek agressive medical care at the end stage of life. Hospice care focuses on making the patient comfortable and pain-free, but it is not just for the patient. It also provides emotional support for the entire family. The care includes a team of doctors, nurses, social workers, counselors, hospice aides, chaplains and VOLUNTEERS. They work together focusing on the patient's needs, whether physical, psychological or spiritual.
Volunteers receive 10-12 hours of training. Some of the things our Direct Patient Care Volunteers can do: Provide companionship and emotional support, offer friendly visits, read to/with the patient, watch TV with the patient, play card games or board games, stay with the patient so that the caregiver can feel comfortable leaving the patient to do errands, pick up some groceries for the family, prepare light meals, make a memory book for/with the patient...
We'll work with your schedule.
