For someone living with cancer--either as a patient, family member, or caregiver--it can sometimes seem as if there are more questions than answers. ACS Cancer Resource Volunteers can make a difference in the lives of cancer patients by sharing their knowledge, experience, and compassion at the ACS Cancer Resource Center located at Mercy Hospital in Portland.
Resource volunteers provide information about American Cancer Society programs and services to patients, caregivers, and families, as well as information about local hospital and community resources, support groups, and cancer education classes.
Cancer Resource Volunteers will be volunteering for the American Cancer Society, as well as for the hospital or cancer center they work in. Appropriate training will be provided by each of the two partner organizations.
The Cancer Resource Center is located in the Fore River Medical Building of Mercy Hospital, and is open Monday through Friday from 9am to noon.
