Have you ever considered volunteering to help children in need? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then you are for the child and Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA)/Prince George’s County is looking for you!

Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA)/Prince George’s County matches community volunteers with children living in foster care. To prepare our volunteers for their role, 37 hours of training is provided. The training consists of a total of 8 required classes that run from 6:00pm to 9:00pm each scheduled night as well as one day of Courtroom Observation (8:45 am - 4:00 pm) which will be offered twice during the training. A light dinner will be served at each night of training.

Our next training session will be an evening training this winter from January 18th to February 15th. Training days are Mondays and Thursdays from 6pm to 9pm. The full schedule is attached to this email. If you are assigned to a youth 14 or older, 2 additional training nights will be required.

Mission Statement

Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA)/Prince George's County, Inc. is a volunteer-based organization that partners with the juvenile court to positively impact the lives of abused and neglected youth living in foster care. CASA volunteers change a child's story by becoming a trusted advocate for the best interests of children and teens.

Description

Every year more than half a million abused and neglected children are in need of safe, permanent, nurturing homes. That's where CASA steps in. CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) was created in 1977 to make sure the abuse and neglect these children originally suffered at home doesn't continue as abuse and neglect at the hands of the system. As trained advocates, CASA volunteers are appointed by judges to be a voice for these children in court. The result is that a child is placed into a safe, loving home where he/she can thrive. It is the CASA vision to provide a volunteer for each and every abused and neglected child who needs one.
