Volunteer Receptionists Needed!

Senior Services is looking for volunteers to work in the Norfolk office, for a minimum of four (4) hours twice a week, in the position of Volunteer Receptionist.

The Volunteer Receptionist will connect visitors and callers with the appropriate staff member by: 1) managing calls through the main switch board, and 2) receiving office visitors. The Receptionist will listen to the visitor or caller’s question or concern and determine who can best provide assistance. The position also includes monitoring the "sign in and sign out" process for staff members and collecting data on the number and type of calls received. The Receptionist must be able to multitask during times of high volume calls.

Training about Senior Services and the organization’s partner agencies will be provided. The volunteer will also be thoroughly trained on the use of the switchboard and reception procedures. Supervision and guidance for the position will be provided by the Hayden Village Manager.

• Excellent oral communication skills
• Good interpersonal skills
• Ability to multitask
• Experience in customer service
• Active Listening Skills
• Experience performing reception duties, preferred.

A full array of services is available for seniors and their caregivers, regardless of their ability to pay.

Senior Services gives volunteers hands on experience with the fastest growing population in our society: senior citizens. Volunteers will learn about Senior Services as an organization and the Aging Services Network as a whole.
