Like to pick things up and set them down? The Skagit Habitat for Humanity Store is the place for you!

Volunteer Type: No experience is necessary; we’ll teach you! Must be able to lift heavy objects, be willing to learn how to drive a forklift, and be friendly and personable. Volunteers must be at least 16 years old, and teens younger than 18 must have a waiver signed by a parent or legal guardian.

Description: The Store is the main fundraiser for SHFH, which builds affordable homes for low-income families. Warehouse Assistants will assist customers and donors in loading and unloading merchandise, help clean and organize the warehouse and loading dock, and assist with donation pick-ups.

Location and Time Commitment: The Store, 1022 Riverside Dr, Mount Vernon, WA 98273

Shifts are generally 3.5-7 hours; schedule based on your availability.
Tuesday-Saturday, 10-6pm. Schedule with Volunteer Coordinator.

Volunteer Benefits: Volunteers get to work in a fun, friendly environment, meet lots of people, and gain valuable job experience. Warehouse assistants also get lots of exercise, so if you are interested in physical fitness, this volunteer position is right for you! Volunteers are also an important part of SHFH and help improve the Skagit community by changing the lives of low-income families. Homeownership has been shown to improve the educational outcomes of children and the financial futures of entire families.

Community Need Met: SHFH works to provide safe and affordable housing for low-income Skagit County residents. 40% of Skagit County residents cannot afford the home they currently occupy; this means they’re at risk of losing their homes and ending up in unsafe conditions. Our Partner Families save about $275/month paying their mortgage vs. the average 2-bedroom apartment in Skagit County. This savings allows them to improve their quality of life and invest in their futures.
