Tell stories in two languages -- Become a biligual storyteller for Children at the Tustin Library

Do you love to tell stories? Do you want to inspire a love of books and stories to children? The Tustin Library is looking to offer bilingual storytimes to the community. The current need is for English and Spanish storytimes. Other languages will be considered as needed.

Storytime volunteers will be part of our Tustin Tellers program, a group of volunteers that work with the Children's Librarian and are trained in the techniques and developmental needs of pre-literacy to early literacy learners. The library provides both training and materials.

Commitment is for at least one session of 8 weekly storytimes per year. Storytimes last about 20 - 30 minutes and are designed for a particular age group. Volunteers work in pairs to implement a storytime.

Public libraries in California seek to engage the talents, skills and commitment of volunteers to serve the communities' information and literacy needs. Libraries offer a variety of skilled volunteer opportunities to make a meaningful contribution to library programs, operations, fundraising events and other community engagement functions. Skilled volunteers have opportunities to lead projects, work with teams of staff and volunteers, learn new skills, and have fun.
