Volunteers needed for the Tidewater Region's Destination Imagination (DI) tournament. DI creates 21st Century leaders and innovators through its global, nonprofit program aimed at children in grades K-college. Teams of kids select and solve one of 7 crazy challenges and the more innovative the solution, the better. Challenges can be previewed at: https://www.destinationimagination.org/challenge-program/challenge-previews
We are most in need of volunteers willing to appraise student performances and able to attend a mandatory training session (see below) Support volunteers need not attend training. Community Service Hours available - great for high school & college students, military members, etc.
Two ways to register:
1: Appraiser (Scoring) volunteer) Please go to the link below to register as an appraiser (scoring performances) and sign the required conduct form (cut and paste if link does not work: https://registeryourteam.org/appraiser Please select Not with a team, Tidewater Region, VA, enter your info, and I will contact you with more information as the tournament date gets closer.
2. As a support (non-scoring) volunteer. We need scoring appraisers most, but if you do not want to score, please go to: https://registeryourteam.org/supportvolunteer You will not need to attend the Feb. 10 training, but are welcome if you want to learn more. We need help at the sales table, keeping doors closed, monitoring rooms children can use in their free time - a room of wooden blocks or a selfie picture room, helping volunteers sign in, etc.
