Each season Girls on the Run has a dynamic group of volunteer coaches who give their time to guide and mentor girls. Our coaches play a pivotal role in helping girls grow into happy, healthy, self-confident adolescents and adults! Coaches need not be runners; they just need to be individuals who want to be a positive influence and who are committed to developing and celebrating our youth.
Girls on the Run inspires girls in 3rd-8th grade to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun curriculum that creatively integrates running. Teams meet after school for 1.5 hours, twice a week for ten weeks, in sessions run by volunteer coaches. The season runs September - November and culminates with participation in a celebratory, non-competitive, 5K run/walk event in Downtown Saginaw that takes place annually on the Saturday before Thanksgiving.
