The Pennsylvania Trolley Museum is looking for volunteers with a passion for local history, education, and/or transportation to conduct guided tours of our Trolley Display Building. Training and orientation will be given.
The Pennsylvania Trolley Museum’s (PTM's) mission is to communicate the story of Pennsylvania’s Trolley Era to a diverse audience through the preservation, interpretation, and use of its collection of electric railway and railroad equipment, associated artifacts and photo/document archives, and to ensure that its visitors have an enjoyable and rewarding educational experience.
PTM came to Chartiers Township, Washington County in February 1954 with three trolleys and a dream that was born in 1941. Today, that dream is a reality. PTM now boasts a collection of nearly 50 cars, over 600 members worldwide, 150 active volunteers, and over 30,000 visitors each year. With your support, we can fulfill our mission to keep the Trolley Era alive for generations to come.
**Please be advised that all volunteers must be a minimum 14 years of age. Those who are 14 & 15 years old must be accompanied by legal parent / guardian. All volunteers of age of majority must provide their PA Clearances per PA State Law**

Description
The Pennsylvania Trolley Museum has evolved over the past 50 years from a handful of volunteers and a few trolleys to over 600 members and approximately 50 trolleys preserved at its museum in Washington, Pennsylvania. Visitors get a unique opportunity to actually experience the Trolley Era first hand by riding the Museum's beautifully restored streetcars for a scenic four-mile ride.
At our museum, volunteers of all ages work to preserve and share transportation history through trolley operation, educational tours, and maintenance and restoration work with our collections. We are also looking for volunteers with a variety of interests to help with special events and a wide range of museum operations. Anyone with a passion for trolleys, regional history, or simply serving one's community is welcome to join us!
