Working on the land is challenging, satisfying and lots of fun!

Benedictine Sojourners is a 6 month experience of living, praying and volunteering/working in community with the Benedictine sisters at Holy Wisdom Monastery. This is an opportunity for single, Christian women, 24-50, to share in the life of the sisters at Holy Wisdom Monastery. Experience our Benedictine community and find your place in our community’s mission of prayer, justice, hospitality and care for the earth. Room, board and stipend are included as part of the experience. Medical insurance is available.

Benedictine Women of Madison weaves prayer, hospitality, justice and care for the earth into a shared way of life as an ecumenical Benedictine community.

Description

The ongoing environmental work of the monastery advances care for the earth through restoration as a natural connection to deepening the spiritual life. For more than 50 years, people of all ages and diverse backgrounds have come to restore the land because the earth and this place are precious to them. Others come to reflect on their lives and renew their spirits through prayer, conversation, reading or a walk around the grounds. The community's efforts reflect a strong commitment to preserving a place where all are welcome to experience the dynamic beauty of nature, which can awaken or deepen a spiritual connection with the mysteries of creation.
