International Cancer Advocacy Network ("ICAN") is a tax-exempt charitable organization based in Phoenix, AZ. We are dedicated to helping late-stage cancer patients with cutting-edge advocacy, direct patient navigation, and information services and empowerment tools. Join hundreds of Virtual Volunteers from around the world who are researchers for our five-star rated unique cancer organization.

You can find more about us at askican.org and read our five-star reviews at VolunteerMatch.org and greatnonprofits.org

We are in great need of self-motivated, detail-oriented individuals with excellent written communication and follow-up skills, individuals who can research and collect information for us for certain assigned cancers and other related topics then present that information in Excel spreadsheets provided to you by us.

This position is perfect for any good researcher looking for a rewarding volunteer experience.

Research straightforward projects on, Google Scholar, sciencefinder.com, websites for labs and life sciences companies, and other search engines we introduce you to.

We have easy-to-understand directions to make the volunteer experience as valuable and as enjoyable as possible for our volunteers and interns. All we ask is that you have an interest in the subject matter or are at least willing to develop an interest and that you follow the straightforward instructions and promise to do your best to be responsive to our emails. If you commit to those three things, we know you'll have a great experience with us and will be encouraging your friends and colleagues to participate as ICAN volunteers as well!

By volunteering with us, you will be making a difference in the qualitative edge of our Program Services--which is what ICAN is known for!

NOTE THAT ALL OF ICAN'S VOLUNTEER POSITIONS CAN BE TURNED INTO FORMAL INTERNSHIPS WITH CREDIT RECEIVED (just coordinate with your existing academic institution or employer) OR CAN BE COMPLETED FOR COMMUNITY SERVICE HOURS CERTIFICATION (with courts, schools, and so forth).

Some of our volunteers have been with us for five full years since we started this program (we have recently completed many customized medical school recommendation letters for quite a few of our volunteers). For volunteers who are with us for six months or more, we are happy to write detailed recommendations for graduate schools and medical schools as well as employment recommendations. All of our letters are personalized. We pride ourselves on the quality of our letters on behalf of our volunteers.

This is a VIRTUAL INTERNSHIP, which can be done from your computer and emailed to us in an attached Excel-compatible files.

Please be sure to tell us about your academic background, experience, specific career interests or aspirations when applying for this position.
