Community Family Life Services of Washington, DC is seeking enthusiastic, caring and patient individuals who will assist with on-site childcare for parents participating our monthly "Talking and Growing" Social Group.
Title: Childcare Volunteer, approx. 1 per month
Position Overview:
Our next "Talking and Growing" Parents Café will take place on Thursday, July 27, 2017 from 6:00pm-7:30pm. The group meets once a month. "Talking and Growing" is a social support group for homeless and formerly homeless parents. Parents that need a safe space to build their support system, create supportive and healthy relationships, exchange information about resources and just a fun space to discuss different community issues and share personal stories or just chit chat.
While the parents are in their group, we are seeking volunteers that will do arts and crafts with the children and other fun activities. Dinner will be provided and there will be a Community Family Life Services staff person present at all times.
Duties: Maintaining safety of children during meeting times, planning structured activities for the children, and supervising clean up time.
Qualifications: Prior childcare experience preferred, ability to work with multiple children of various ages at one time, ability to develop/coordinate activities, strong communication skills, and three character references.

The Community Family Life Services mission is to provide homeless individuals, families, and women’s reentry with the tools they need to move themselves beyond poverty and homelessness into permanent self-sufficiency. CFLS has two primary goals: to provide short term crisis assistance; and to empower individuals, families, and women’s reentry to change their lives over the long term. Our programs and services include affordable permanent and transitional housing, mentoring for families, employment coaching and placement, case management, family education and food and clothing distribution.

We have two primary goals: (1) to provide short-term crisis assistance, and (2) to empower individuals and families to change their lives over the long term. We achieve those goals through a web of interconnected services in three areas: Housing Services; Supportive Services & Community Outreach; Our holistic approach provides clients with education, skills and support from a committed staff, empowering each client to pursue his/her goals. During the last fiscal year, CFLS logged more than 5,000 interactions with District residents.
