The Friends of the Hillview Library are looking for some new folks to help manage the book sale area in the library (merchandizing books, organizing and beautifying book sale area, creating signage in the library and around book sale area, etc.), handling/sorting the donations we receive and sell, and creating and posting promotional materials in the community to create awareness about the Friends' Book Sale area. This is a GREAT volunteer position for someone who likes a quiet space to work by themselves or with a small group of people and who does not have to do a lot of customer interaction. Friends also put on a quarterly book sale at the library, which generates the majority of the funding Hillview Library receives for programming.
We ask that you volunteer at least 4 hours per month and commit to helping for at least a 3 month period, including assisting with 1 quarterly book sale. We will train you on the process of sorting and organizing donations, as well as merchandizing.This is a great way to become more engaged with your community and meet other individuals dedicated to the library and the community it serves. Hillview Friends are open to your suggestions for alternative ways to assist us! The Friends of San José Public Libraries are wonderful volunteers that support, advocate and raise funds for a library. Each Friends group supports a specific San José Public Library branch with book sales and other activities. The time commitment is small but the rewards are huge!
