We are looking for volunteers to serve as a CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) for abused and neglected children in the foster care system. A CASA volunteer works with the juvenile court to advocate for the best interest of the child. If you are looking for a volunteer opportunity that enriches your life as much as it does the lives of those you serve, you have come to the right place!

You must be 21 yrs old, and agree to a full background check, including fingerprints. You will be fully trained before being sworn in by a juvenile judge and you will be fully supported in your work by the Volunteer Coordinator for your area.

TLC Children's Services is currently recruiting volunteers in 15 counties: Bleckley, Candler, Dodge, Emanuel, Jefferson, Johnson, Laurens, Montgomery, Pulaski, Telfair, Toombs, Treutlen, Twiggs, Washington and Wheeler.

Mission Statement

TLC CASA is a program within TLC Children's Services that provides community based advocacy to promote safety and permanency for children who are victims of abuse and neglect. Trained and supervised volunteers, in cases assigned by the Juvenile Court Judge, center the focus of the case upon the child, giving the child a voice in the proceedings. The program further advocates resources for children and families involved in dependency proceedings and promotes community awareness of the problems and solutions to child abuse and neglect.

Description

Appointed and empowered directly by the courts, CASA advocates for a child’s best interest by providing critical information to judges about the child’s needs and well-being to help the judge make the most well-informed decision. We do this important work through a network of caring and committed volunteers, who are assigned a child's case to advocate for their best interests throughout the duration of their foster care experience.

CASA is so grateful for those who join us in being a voice for a child. CASA Volunteers form special bonds with the children they advocate for, often being one of the only constants in a child’s life amidst the ever-changing world of foster care.

CASA Volunteers are an essential piece to ensuring children have the best possible outcomes-- kids assigned a CASA are half as likely to re-enter the foster care system-- and we are proud of the work our volunteers do each and every day!
