4C for Children invites you to volunteer with our Play & Learn kindergarten readiness program. 4C’s Play & Learn groups, based on the national Kaleidoscope Play & Learn Program, help children (birth to age 5) learn through play. The target audience for this outreach effort is stay-at-home parents as well as family, friend and neighbor caregivers and the children in their care.

Led by a trained facilitator, 4C Play & Learn groups are held in 11 Southwest Ohio (Amelia/Union Township, Goshen, Lebanon, Middletown, Norwood, Springdale, Westwood, and Wilmington) and Northern Kentucky (Covington, Newport, and Williamstown) locations. Each group meets on a weekday morning, twice a month for 90 minutes. View an up-to-date list of meeting locations and times online at http://4cforchildren.org/playlearn.

Volunteers are asked to commit to at least one two-hour session each month-but twice monthly is preferred to help establish relationships with Play & Learn participants. Volunteers spend 15 minutes both setting up before and packing up after each Play & Learn session, assist Play & Learn instructors in modeling appropriate interactions during play and help caregivers build supportive relationships with one another.

To join us as a Play & Learn volunteer, you will be asked to complete the following:

1. Sign up below to let us know you are interested, and share any questions you may have.
2. Submit a Play & Learn Volunteer Application online at http://ed.4cforchildren.org/forms/playandlearn.aspx
3. Complete a one-hour orientation
4. Undergo a background check (required of all individuals who work directly with children)
5. Observe a Play & Learn session

A member of 4C’s Family and Community Services Department will contact you after receiving your application.
