Teen Poetry Slam Finals - 04/19/2024
The 2024 Youth Speaks Teen Poetry Slam Finals is here!
This April 2024, Youth Speaks will host its Teen Poetry Slam (TPS) Finals featuring the top-scoring poets from the 2024 TPS Semi-Finals. The top 6 highest-scoring individuals from the Slam Finals are invited to represent Team Bay Area at the Brave New Voices International Youth Poetry Slam Festival taking place in Washington D.C. this summer.
We're looking for volunteers to support Front of House (FOH). FOH volunteers will support:
- Setting up Front of House
- Checking attendees through Eventbrite
- Setting up food & snacks
- Breaking down tables and equipment
About the Brave New Voices Festival
For over 27 years, the Youth Speaks Teen Poetry Slam has propelled spoken word around the globe. Youth from all over the Bay compete to become a finalist and represent the Bay Area at the annual Brave New Voices, a 4-day international youth poetry festival celebrating arts education, performance, and civic engagement. The Teen Poetry Slam and Brave New Voices is a tradition celebrating some of the most amazing young writers and performers in the world and is open to anyone 19 and under.

Youth Speaks understands & believes that the power, insight, creativity, & passion of young people can change the world, Youth Speaks has long been recognized for innovative arts education & youth development practices. Founded in San Francisco in 1996, Youth Speaks launched comprehensive programs for teens in & out of school, producing the first youth poetry slam in the nation in 1997, before launching national programs like the Brave New Voices Festival in 1998. Youth Speaks sustains an integrated series of programs, performances, and convenings that engage tens of thousands of youth locally, and hundreds of thousands nationally and globally. We continue to provide responsive and accessible programming during Covid-19 through online workshops, residencies, open mics, special events, campaigns, and publications.
