BC2M Student Summit
Each year, Bring Change to Mind (BC2M) hosts regional Student Summits across the country, welcoming hundreds of BC2M club members to come together and discuss topics related to mental health, their clubs, and how to continue making significant changes at their schools. On Sunday, March 20th, BC2M will be inviting ~200 of its NYC club members to The Mezzanine for a fun day of connecting with one another, learning more about mental health, and brainstorming around how they can increase mental health education and healthy behaviors in the high school environment. These fun and inspiring Student Summits are the organization's way of thanking the kids for their hard-work and commitment to the cause, while providing a space for members to network and stimulate ideas for campus-wide activities this year.

Facilitator Role
For this year’s summit, BC2M is seeking upbeat, energetic facilitators to lead breakout sessions that will be taking place during the event. Facilitators should be comfortable working with teens and moderating discussions about mental health. No prior mental health knowledge or education is required, though it is a plus.

During the 90-minute breakout session, facilitators will guide ~12 teens through ice breakers, bonding activities, and larger group discussions. These discussions will relate to the Summit’s theme of Collaborative Power. When students RSVP, they choose from the following breakout session topics: Supporting Friends and Family, Social Movement Synchrony, and BC2M 101. We will ask facilitators to attend the whole event to assist with other volunteer roles outside of breakouts.

Two mandatory hour-long virtual training workshops will be provided by BC2M staff prior to the event to prepare facilitators for the activities and discussions within the breakout session. Facilitators will also be asked to take time to familiarize themselves with the content on their own time prior to the event.

Mission Statement

To end the stigma and discrimination surrounding mental illness.

Description

Bring Change to Mind is a nonprofit organization dedicated to encouraging dialogue about mental health, and to raising awareness, understanding, and empathy.

Actress & activist Glenn Close co-founded Bring Change to Mind in 2010 after her sister, Jessie Close, was diagnosed with bipolar disorder, and her nephew, Calen Pick, with schizoaffective disorder.

Every individual who speaks out inspires another. And another. That’s how we’ll end the stigma around mental illness. That’s how we’ll Bring Change to Mind.
