Volunteers needed at PYB's Saturday basketball tournaments from October 29th to December 17th, 2022. Each Saturday, participants from our Middle School Partnership Program meet at one of two locations for a weekly tournament. Volunteers are needed to check-in families, help keep score, cheer on the youth, and more from 9am-1pm. Volunteers can choose between two sites: MLK High and West Philly High. Volunteers can sign up for as many Saturdays as they'd like!

Interested individuals should email gbraun@phillyyouthbasketball.org with the date(s) and location of their choice.

All prospective volunteers must obtain the following clearances:

  1. Report of criminal history from the Pennsylvania State Police (PSP);and
  2. Child Abuse History Clearance from the Department of Human Services (Child Abuse).
Additionally, a fingerprint based federal criminal history (FBI) submitted through the Pennsylvania State Police or its authorized agent is required if the volunteer has lived outside the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in the last 10 years. If the volunteer is not required to obtain an FBI Criminal History clearance, they must swear and affirm in writing that they are not disqualified from service based upon a conviction of an offense under ยง6344 of the Child Protective Services Law.

Description

Built of, by, for, and with the communities it serves, PYB’s unique equity-building model combines engaging group activities and Sport & Society modules with real-world life lessons - from health and wellness to personal growth and leadership. This holistic approach to youth development hinges on the accessible, culturally credible Coach-Mentors at PYB, many of whom come from the same neighborhoods and circumstances as the young people we serve. Since its inception in 2015, PYB has served over 5,000 young people and counting.
