More Than a Bed’s Christmas Event is fast approaching!!! The event will be held on Saturday, December 9, 2023, from 10 am - 3 pm. We are asking that all volunteers plan on arriving at the warehouse by 9 am. It’ll be great if you can stay the entire time, but if not, we can accommodate shifts. Please be clear if you need a shift.
We need volunteers in the following areas:
Check-in & check-out - A thorough list will be provided to you. In this role, your responsibility will be to ensure the people attending the event have RSVP'd. You will hand them an envelope with some information and tickets inside. Your job is done here!
Games attendants - Teach the kiddos how to play the game you are overseeing; make sure all kiddos can play. Give each child a small toy once they complete your game (will be provided by More Than a Bed).
Grill area - Your role is to ensure the families in attendance receive the food/snacks offered (to be determined).
New toys - All children in attendance can pick out a toy appropriate for their age & ability level. Gift attendants will be handed a ticket from the child/family once they select an unwrapped toy. You will also replenish the toys for your table as the shift goes on.
Santa line - Families will first take a photo with a dry-erase board - will need their name legibly written on it, then take the dry-erase board away. The photographer will take 2-3 photos of each family.
Security outside - Families will need guidance on where to park. Your role is to assist them with where to park (a designated area is already determined).

Mission Statement
More Than a Bed's mission is to provide essential items to foster, kinship, and adoptive families for the children in their homes because every child deserves to be valued.
Description
More Than a Bed was established in September 2014. We are a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization and are a Christian resource center for foster and adoptive families. Our vision is to inspire the community to get involved in the life of a foster child and support the family providing care. To encourage new families to be licensed and existing families to remain licensed with the goal of every child in Pima County and its surrounding areas to have a safe place to call home.
In our 5,000 sq ft warehouse we provide clothing, shoes, bedding, baby items, school items, books, cribs, toys, household items for the families to come in and shop for free for the items they need to provide for the child/children placed in their care. Through grants we purchase items much needed including cribs, twin and toddler beds, bunk beds, diapers and underwear. We believe every child should feel valued, so by helping the families get the essential needs for the children we hope we are accomplishing this.
