Are you a creative writer who loves to share a message? We are seeking an individual to assist with BLOG POSTS (1-2x/month) and our EMAIL NEWSLETTER (1x/week). Share your passion with our ever-growing audience: 900+ subscribers, and thousands of website visitors!
To begin, we are looking for someone to:
- Highlight and feature our events - we have lots going on and want to ensure it's being featured both on the website and in our weekly newsletter.
- Essentially, it's taking the existing content we have (on our calendar) and creating blog posts when we have something to announce or share (video, photos, etc.).
- You would also oversee any blog posts written by our audience for publication on our blog.
- Writing original content about Shakespeare is not required, though this can be discussed based on your interest.
The SDSS has been around for 20+ years, involving individuals and families of all ages and sizes in the enjoyment and education of Shakespeare's works! If you have a love for this material too and would like to apply your technical and creative skills, we'd love to hear from you! There may be occasional stipends offered as you continue.
At present, we send out a weekly newsletter using Mailchimp, highlighting our events and anything else that may be of note. We would like to post to our website (on WordPress) at least once per month - examples of past blog posts here: https://sandiegoshakespearesociety.org/news
We are open to an individual contributing more posts on the site: have topics you want to write about, a list of your favorite Shakespeare films, ways the Bard's works relate to San Diego? We're open to your creativity!
We truly want this to be something you make your own and you feel a sense of ownership. We're not looking to "micro-manage" and want you to have room to expand and grow your skills and talents.
Similarly with the newsletter, while we have a format, we're open to a fresh set of eyes of how we can improve, be that with layout, content, or something else!
You will work with the Director of Marketing to create a content plan and will likely collaborate with our Events Coordinator and Social Media Coordinator.
