ORGANIZATION: THE ALEXANDER FOUNDATION

The Alexander Foundation is completely volunteer run. The Board of Directors is a working board, meaning that all organization operations are conducted by the Board and program area committees.

This position is on the Board of Directors for The Alexander Foundation. The Vice Chair shares internal organizational responsibilities, ranging from project management, quality improvement, administration, and supervision of organizational programs. The Vice Chair will partner closely with the Chair to chart The Alexander Foundation’s future growth and strategic response to the LGBTQ+ community’s needs.

Responsibilities:

Leadership and Management

  • Lead, coach, support, and manage The Alexander Foundation programs and respective Directors in partnership with Chair; including, Assistance Director, Scholarship Director, Development Director, Marketing & Communications Director, Volunteer & Outreach Director, and Events Director.
  • Ensure ongoing programmatic excellence by supporting the development of agendas/outlines for monthly meetings of the Board of Directors, supporting the development of strategic direction with Chair, and supporting the facilitation of monthly Board meetings
  • Provide support to programs Directors by identifying support needs, identifying opportunities for collaboration, and ensuring cross-program communication.
  • Meet with program Directors to brainstorm new ideas, support quality improvement, and discuss challenges and needs.

All board members are expected to serve as ambassadors for the organization: articulate The Alexander Foundation's mission, accomplishments, and goals. It is also an expectation that all Board Members fundraise on behalf of The Alexander Foundation: soliciting donations, identify potential sponsors, and networking with donors.

Founded in 1981, The Alexander Foundation is a public, non-profit 501(c)3, philanthropic organization. Through our Community, Catastrophic, and Holiday assistance programs, as well as educational scholarships, the foundation has created a tradition of caring for the LGBT community. For over 40 years, the foundation has provided millions dollars to those in need. Most importantly, such assistance has built a stronger LGBT community, and transformed thousands of lives throughout Colorado.
