The role of a TSE board secretary is critical for the smooth operations of the board.

The responsibilities of TSE board secretaries are as follows:

  • Assures that an agenda has been prepared by the board president and/or CEO and that the agenda is distributed in advance of the meeting
  • Oversees the distribution of background information for agenda items to be discussed
  • Prepares the official minutes of the meeting and records motions, discussions, votes, and decisions
  • Prepares and provides the previous meeting’s written minutes to board members before the next meeting and records any changes or corrections
  • Schedules and notifies board members of upcoming meetings
  • Holds members accountable for their tasks

We are looking for separate individuals to share the role of junior board secretary. Each person would attend 1-2 meetings a month and prepare notes for such meeting in a professional and timely matter.

Our board meetings typically fall on a Saturday Morning. Must be available to attend this meeting. No Exceptions.

Teaching Self-Sufficiency through Education (TSE) mission is to provide services that empower Oakland families experiencing chronic and real time difficulties within their life and community. The specific purpose for TSE is to empower and encourage low income people to build stronger and healthier relationships to better the lives of their families.

Description

TSE goal is to provide effective educational and supportive services/resources to capitalize on the strengths of the families and build personal self-appreciation, relationships, and motivate them find value in their communities and neighbors. Our services will include but are not limited to Intake, Screening and Parenting/Educational group. Referrals (for abuse treatment), Housing, Counseling and Mental Health services will be available as well.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be at least 18
  • The term is One Year. Meetings occur monthly with the next one being December. Secretary also must attend all committee meetings. which occur monthly at separate times.
  • Must be able to attend virtually and prepare minutes professionally within reasonable time.
