P.S. 160 in Queens, is seeking volunteer speakers to present at their Virtual Career Day on January 27th from 9am-1pm.
Speakers will drop in to a Google classroom of either all remote or all in-person students and speak about your career, your background, your education, your job duties, etc. You could do anything from a presentation to a "day in the life" or anything in between! Then, you'd answer questions from the students. The entire talk with your presentation and the kids' questions would last 30 minutes. If you can commit to presenting to 2 classrooms, that would be ideal! They can be in any time frame between 9am-1pm. (For example, speak to classroom 1 at 9:30am-10am, classroom 2 at 12:30pm-1pm).
We are looking for folks who can speak to lower grades, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd.
P.S. 160 is a Change for Kids partner school. At CFK we create opportunities for kids to overcome inequity. As part of our mission, we help kids in underserved communities gain exposure to new ideas, dreams, and experiences. With COVID-19 keeping our kids isolated, this type of exposure is more important than ever. We hope you'll join us!

Change for Kids (CFK) provides critical supports, experiences, and access so kids in New York City public schools can reimagine their possibilities and overcome inequity. We believe opportunities create options. We believe that one can’t dream what one has not seen. We believe creating opportunities for young people allows them to see themselves with different options, through different lenses. And this affords them the tools to reimagine their own possibilities and the tools with which to overcome inequity.
Description
The Change for Kids community works together to allow young people to see themselves in the future with unlimited options. CFK School Managers, in partnership with principals, teachers, and CFK leadership, identify the needs of each CFK partner school.
Change for Kids partners with 13 schools across the five boroughs reaching almost 5,000 students. We provide and manage a mix of resources, including leadership support for principals, teachers, parents, and other school leaders; academic enrichment and engagement programs; volunteers; corporate sponsors; school community support; custom CFK programming designed to fill the gaps identified by our partner schools; and meaningful volunteer opportunities for individuals, public and private organizations, and college/university students.
