ORGANIZATION: United Way of Greater Cincinnati

*** UPDATE: Although our live virtual trainings concluded on 1/7, we are still accepting volunteers for this effort. Please reach out to laura.wells@uwgc.org directly to discuss next steps. Deadline to register is Friday, 1/15!

COVID-19 continues to create learning barriers for local students; There is a consistent need for fresh, engaging educational content outside the standard curriculum.

Although volunteers may not be able to visit schools in person, United Way of Greater Cincinnati (UWGC) once again will partner with Junior Achievement to utilize an adapted lesson plan that volunteers will share with students virtually cross all seventh-grade Cincinnati Public Schools (CPS) classrooms.

How will it work? It’s as easy as 1, 2, 3!

  1. Training will be provided by UWGC, CPS and Junior Achievement to ensure volunteers feel prepared and comfortable with the content. Due to the new structure of this effort, training is mandatory!
  2. Make it your own! Volunteers will record themselves teaching the lesson and submit your videos to Junior Achievement for review by Jan. 22, 2021. We also encourage volunteers to share a little about their career pathways and the challenges and opportunities they faced along the way.
  3. UWGC, Junior Achievement and CPS will review the videos and distribute them across all seventh-grade classrooms to be shared with students during the week of Feb. 15, 2021.
When you sign-up, you'll be provided a link in your confirmation email that will allow you to select your preferred training date. If you have questions or need help, please contact Laura Wells at laura.wells@uwgc.org.
