This includes subjects in math, science, social studies, English, and SAT Prep (each core subject through the AP level). Tutors should be prepared to work with AT LEAST one of our subjects. You must possess strong leadership skills and a high level of independence.

Please navigate to https://www.tutoringforall.org/volunteer to complete the application.

Tasks

  • Tutor students of various skill levels in the tutor’s area of expertise.
    • Tutoring sessions will be 30 minutes to 1 hour (depending on the student’s progression)
    • Tutoring sessions may need to be split into two sessions or more. (depending on student’s progression)
  • Complete feedback forms for student data and personal experience with each session.
  • Answer student's questions in a timely manner and a concise way.

Time Commitment

  • A student tutor is expected to tutor AT LEAST one of our subjects.

  • A student tutor can expect to volunteer at least two hours per week.
    • This means more than just tutoring but all of the tasks outlined above.

Benefits

  • Earn community service hours for time spent in tutoring sessions, attending meetings, planning for sessions, and completing feedback forms (other opportunities will arise which will allow you to earn even more hours).

  • Tutors MUST demonstrate mastery in the subject of expertise they are applying for (this will be done through the various phases of the application process).
    • Tutors may be asked to provide AP/IB scores or supporting documents for College Level work.

About ROBOTICS FOR ALL

Location:

P.O. Box 56, PALO ALTO, CA 94302, US

Mission Statement

Mission: Robotics for All aims to inspire the next generation of students and volunteers to achieve their full potential, regardless of their background. Robotics for All strives to provide equitable educational opportunities to students of all backgrounds, particularly low income and under-represented students, with an emphasis on teaching the fields of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math). The goal is to reduce the opportunity gap, allowing students to gain beneficial skills for the rest of their academic and professional careers. We believe that it is important for students to have access to a quality STEM education, regardless of socio-economic status.

Description

Founded in April 2017 and officially incorporated in July 2018, Robotics for All aims to bridge close the opportunity gap by providing equitable educational opportunities to students of all backgrounds, particularly underrepresented and underserved students. Our organization previously only provided in-person classes. In July 2020, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we transitioned our program to an online setting and experienced breakneck growth. In just 5 months, we taught the same number of students as we did in our first 3 years of operations. Our current online classes are for K-8 grader and teach a variety of platforms including Code.org, Scratch, and Python.

Robotics for All is volunteer-based, with currently over 100 volunteers at the time of writing. Our volunteers hail from dozens of states across the United States and several other countries. We encourage you to apply to join our growing community of volunteers.
