- DUE TO HIGH VOLUME OF APPLICANTS, WE ARE TEMPORARILY ACCEPTING APPLICANTS LOCATED IN THE LOS ANGELES AREA ONLY (volunteer opportunity will still be virtual via Zoom) -

We are looking for qualified high school students of any grade level to fill volunteer instructor positions for our STEAM summer camps for elementary-age students. We are based in Los Angeles, however this position is virtual. Volunteers of all locations are welcome as long as you are able to commit to the lesson times (see details below). Local volunteers in Los Angeles a plus!

Time commitment will include a day-long orientation in June and 2-4 hours per week for 7 weeks June-August.

You will be trained in quality STEAM curriculum by education experts, which you will then teach remotely to elementary-age students. You will be joined by STEAM professionals in engineering, robotics, and the medical field.

To apply, please answer the required questions. A letter of recommendation is required. Please apply by May 25th at 10pm. If you are unable to apply by the deadline, please reach out to volunteer@stemtothefuture.org.

Please see below for program-specific details. Our preference is that all HS volunteers instruct for both programs.

PRE-MED (June 23 - Aug 6, Tues/Thurs 1-2pm PDT via Zoom)
For High School students interested in science and healthcare. In our Pre-Med summer camp module, students will learn about biology, epidemiology, and the healthcare system. They will learn 3D Design techniques and work on designing PPE. You will teach our pre-med curriculum twice per week June-August and will be joined by our Healthcare volunteer mentors to guide students through their capstone projects.

BUILDHER UP: ENGINEERING & ROBOTICS (June 23 - Aug 6, Tues/Thurs 2:30-3:30pm PDT via Zoom)
Our program BuildHER Up introduces elementary-age girls to Engineering and Robotics, while tying in other STEAM fields like design, research, and policy-making. You will teach our unique Engineering and Robotics curriculum through virtual lessons twice per week June-August. You will be joined by our Women in STEAM volunteer mentors to guide students through Engineering and Robotics capstone projects.
