Volunteer Description:

The STEM Coordinator is responsible for developing, coordinating, and teaching STEM programming for the 6th-8th grade students. Primary responsibilities include program instruction, curriculum development and revision, and materials management.

Responsibilities:

Program Coordination

  • Maintain and continue to develop comprehensive curriculum in STEM education for 6th-8th grade
  • Ensure curriculum content is scientifically accurate and age-appropriate
  • Develop, create, purchase, and maintain program materials
  • Design 6 week long STEM-related summer science camps
  • Plan and implement end of year STEM Fairs for student participants and their families
  • Organize optional special events or activities for STEM students and their families
About The Wesley Community Service Center

Wesley Community Service Center is a 501(c) 3 nonprofit youth development organization founded in 1937. We have goal to empower underprivileged youth of Hampton Roads communities with access to curated scholastic programming and activities featuring firsthand, true to life experiences rooted in STEM and cultural arts. With the help of local small business owners, entrepreneurs, & other caring volunteers, youth are engaged intellectually, academically, socially, and emotionally, positioning them as leaders who build community knowledge and break generational curses.
