Position Description:

Provide general administrative support for Job Training and Education (JTE) Centers by greeting students and visitors, answering phones, and more.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Greet students and visitors
  • Answer phones, transfer calls, and take messages
  • Answer questions about programs
  • Scan and copy documents
  • Update information boards
  • Assist students logging in on the lobby computers
  • Update student file folders
  • Support staff with administrative work
  • Other duties assigned as necessary

Reports To: Center Manager or Instructor

Essential Qualifications and Competencies:

  • Candidate must maintain the highest level of confidentiality when handling critical documents and information
  • Comfortable with basic computer functions
  • Basic knowledge and application of Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • A demonstrated ability to work independently and as a member of a team

Essential Physical Abilities:

Able to safely lift/push/pull up to 10 lbs., grasp, handle, finger and manipulate items; perform repetitive fine motor functions with fingers, wrists and arms. Able to traverse a wide variety of physical environments without assistance including uneven surfaces and stairs. Able to communicate with others effectively, verbally and in writing; including those who have limited English skills, large groups and small groups and individuals. Able to use standard office equipment without assistance.

Working Environment/Conditions:

Office environment; moderate noise level.

Time Commitment: Flexible business hours; 4-12 hours per week preferred. Minimum eight week (one class session) commitment.
