Support youth from Rainier Beach through One-to-One Tutoring!
Do you support educational equity? Are you looking for a way to serve your community but can’t seem to find the time in your busy schedule? The Youth Tutoring Program offers a meaningful way for you to give back with only a one hour per week minimum commitment!
YTP offers free, one-to-one tutoring for approximately 70 students grades 1-12 in Rainier Beach's low-income housing community, at the Lake Washington Apartments Tutoring Center. We serve a diverse group of students, 99% of whom are children of color and the majority of whom come from immigrant and refugee families. We build individualized tutoring plans for each unique student with a focus on skill building so our students can catch-up and get ahead in school. We need dedicated and caring tutors like you to tutor students 1:1 and foster meaningful mentoring and tutoring relationships.
No teaching experience is necessary- not only do we train our volunteers to be effective tutors, we provide our volunteers with the tools they need to make a difference!
Lake Washington Apartments tutoring hours are:
Monday and Wednesday 5:30-6:30, and 6:40-7:40
Volunteers sign up for at least one hour per week, and are asked to commit to volunteering for six months.
Apply now and help students achieve their potential academically and personally!

The Youth Tutoring Program's mission is to tutor, guide, and inspire at-risk youth living in low-income and public housing to achieve academic success.
The Youth Tutoring Program (YTP) is an after-school educational enrichment program for vulnerable first through twelfth-grade students who live in six low- and mixed-income housing communities in Seattle. Started as a partnership with the Seattle Housing Authority in 1991, the tutoring centers provide youth with a safe, positive, and stimulating environment to explore learning and experience academic and personal success.
