Rope Runner Regional Competitions

Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: Girl Scouts of Northern Illinois

Help manage the Rope Runner Race, we need check-in people, someone to help at the practice course, catchers, a main judge, line judges. Also people to help with set-up and clean-up, and First Aid/CPR.

Rope Runners are wooden figures which roll down a rope on a single wheel, using weights to balance. The competition is designed to teach girls important STEM concepts-such as center of mass, gravity, and mass vs. weight-in a fun, hands-on way. Girls can earn badges in Mechanical Engineering, Fair Play, Leader in Action, Field Day, and Think Like an Engineer through participation in a Rope Runner race.

Rope Runners is part of GSNI’s STEM programming and commitment to Girl Scouts of the USA (GSUSA) STEM Pledge-a multiyear initiative to put 2.5 million girls through Girl Scout hands-on STEM programs by 2025. Read more on GSUSA’s STEM pledge here.

Mission Statement

Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence and character who make the world a better place.

Description

Come help us make our future leaders as we have been doing since 1912! We ARE the premiere organization for Girls Everywhere! The Girl Scout Program is girl-driven, reflecting the ever-changing needs and interests of today's girls. Girls discover the fun, friendship, and power of girls together. Girls learn the importance of personal responsibility, the value of goal-setting, the spirit of teamwork, and the thrill of accomplishment.
Girl Scouting is for every girl, everywhere---where today's girls can become tomorrow's leaders. Membership in Girl Scouts is open to girls in grades K-12th; women and men over 18 can join as adult members with a completed adult application and background check.
