We are looking for potential volunteers who have coding experience in Java, Python, CSS & HTML and/or experience in UX Design, specifically the design process/design thinking to assist High School students as they learn to code real-world projects. You do not need to have previous teaching experience and teachers will always be present in the classrooms.
This opportunity is a part of the Teacher Scientist Partnership (TSP) program which integrates into High School students' math classes and meets every Friday during the school year for 75 minutes. This year students will learn how to code & design their own website utilizing a cloud-based curriculum through code.org that is easy to use and implement. Volunteers will be asked to review the lesson prior to the class in order to be able to assist the students. The curriculum, however, is taught through code-along videos.
Although this is a year-long, weekly in-class commitment, volunteers can rotate if they would like to cone every other week instead of every week. Currently, the program is being offered at TAF@Saghalie in Federal Way, WA.
No additional volunteer opportunities at this time.
