Help a disadvantaged child (Kindergarten thru 12th grade), shop for new school clothes and uniforms for the upcoming school year. Meet outside, in front of Old Navy Westgate Shopping Center in San Jose. You must be confirmed to participate and will be issued a confirmation number that you will use for entire shift.

If interested, you will be directed to The Salvation Army's Volunteer Database. Please note that you are not automatically registered from VolunteerMatch. They only introduce you to various volunteer opportunities in the community.

Volunteers will be matched with a child and be given their shopping list containing their sizes for clothing/uniform colors (if required by school.) $100 worth of clothing, will be covered for K thru 5th grade and 6th-12th grade will spend $150 for new clothing & uniforms. Try to select as much uniform/clothing and undergarments, socks, totaling as close to the amount indicated as possible.

Age Requirements: Ages 14 years thru 16 must pair up with a volunteer parent or adult.

Return child to designated area after clothes are purchased. Receipt, gift card and shopping list stays with staff assigned to check-out registers. You may opt to repeat with another child.

Goal is to serve 150 children, spending the designated amount for each with appropriate school attire and finish before or shortly after store opens to the public.

All volunteers must be confirmed to participate and issued a confirmation number. No walk-ins.

Schedule:
Check-in: arrive between 6:15am-6:30am. Have CA DL, ID or Student ID
Mandatory Orientation: approx 6:45am-7am. If late, you agree to be assigned to another area
Matching w/child & Shopping starts promptly @ 7am
Ends: no later than 10am.
