Wildfires are devastating communities across California, causing more than 300,000 people to evacuate their homes and threatening many more. The Camp Fire in Northern California -- one of three blazing across the state -- is the most destructive in state history. We want to ensure that, if you are in an affected community, you find access to shelter. And if you are looking to help with disaster relief efforts, you know the most effective ways to contribute.
Elizabeth Street Garden is a unique and beautiful community garden full of statues and greenery. We as a non-profit manage the garden year round for the public to enjoy. In addition to keeping the gates open, we organize free public programming, oversee all garden maintenance and upkeep, and fight to protect and preserve the garden as the City attempts to destroy it and develop the lot into housing.
Over the summer, thousands of people visit the garden and participate in our programming. We need your help to keep the gates open and represent the best interests of this beautiful space. We have a shaded info desk at the front of the garden where greeters sit and oversee the patrons as they visit the garden. We normally have 1 to 2 greeters at the front desk. Greeter volunteering is easy, fun, and relaxing as you spend your time outdoors in the peace of the garden and engaging with the community. Our volunteers can sign up for hour shift blocks at will for any day of the week. For more info / our signup page, visit elizabethstreetgarden.com/volunteer !
Volunteers are also welcome to help with gardening! We accept any size volunteer group to help out with garden work as there is always something to be done. Reach out to us via email ( email@example.com ) to set up a time to come in!
