The Graphic Designer for Special Projects supports design projects for the Philanthropy Department. All special design projects focus on fundraising, community engagement, and stewardship efforts, including event and marketing materials and impact reports. The graphic design volunteer will work remotely aside from training and project kick-off and wrap meetings. Desk space may be available if the volunteer is interested in working in the office.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Work with Philanthropy staff to understand design needs for special projects and initiatives.
  • Create design concepts (approved copy provided) to support print and digital special projects.
  • Work with the Philanthropy and Marketing & Communications staff to adhere to organization’s style and branding standards.
  • Provide project updates throughout the design review process.
  • Provide final digital copies and native files of all projects to Philanthropy staff by the mutually agreed upon deadlines.
  • Work with other Goodwill departments on special design projects as time allows.
Essential Qualifications and Competencies:
  • Bachelor’s degree or professional certification in related field
  • Professional experience in graphic design
  • Volunteer must have their own computer and professional design software
  • Ability to work in a PC environment
  • Accuracy and attention to detail required
  • Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills required

  • Volunteer handbook updates
  • Marketing and fundraising materials to support the volunteer program, fundraising efforts, and the Vintage Fashion Collection
  • Impact reports for donors and funders
  • Special event invitations and materials
  • Direct mail special projects
  • Glitter Gala sponsor packet update
  • Signage for Adopt-a-Street program
Time Commitment:
The volunteer and volunteer supervisor will determine mutually agreeable time commitment based on each project. Most projects are estimated to require 8 to 40+ hours of design work. The volunteer is requested to commit to three or more design projects.
