The grants committee develops relationships with foundations and corporations that provide funding through grants. The committee helps to writes grant applications to funding sources that appear to be a match for the agency. It also helps to reserach grant opportunities and crafting context for the application itself. It generally meets once per month on the first Friday of each month and conference calls are common. The majority of the work is done on committee members’ own time. The committee also maintains a calendar with deadlines etc. for applications and then identifies which grants the agency should consider for the following year and proposes it to the board.
