A Red Circle is recruiting volunteers to become advocates for our elementary-aged children in the Ferguson-Florissant, and Hazelwood school districts. As an education advocate, you will be paired with a student and spend time directly in the classroom with them. Our goal is to promote the social, emotional, and academic development of these young students while supporting their classroom teachers. Our support helps students who might be at risk for suspension stay in school where they can continue to learn and grow.
Our education advocates educate themselves and school personnel on discipline policy, restorative justice, implicit bias, and trauma-informed care. They also reach out to parents when appropriate in order to provide appropriate resources and direction.
