Would you be willing to help a grandmother who is raising her grandchild wash dishes? The grandmother reached out to us because she was unable to stand for long periods of time and bending is very DIFFICULT for her. Recently, she started taking care of her baby grandchild who is now a toddler. She is having a hard time keeping up with the dishes. Could you spend a Friday afternoon washing dishes for an hour? Maybe you have some friends who can set up a rotation schedule?
Volunteer Services, a program of Catholic Community Services, assists low-income elders and persons living with disabilities. Volunteers can provide assistance with light housecleaning, transportation, grocery shopping, home repair and yard care. With a little help from volunteers, clients can continue to live independently in their homes.
Due to the vulnerable population we serve, volunteers must complete an application form, pass a background check, provide driver's license and auto insurance, and attend an orientation and training. If providing transportation, must be 21 years of age and over. We provide mileage reimbursement and volunteers will need to pass a driver's abstract.
