We provide monthly support groups for parents of transgender children of all ages. While the parents are meeting to learn more about gender issues and how to best support their children, we have fun play groups for the kids! Ranging in age from K-12, these kids are excited to join these groups and, for many, it is the first time they feel completely accepted and normal! We need a number of volunteers who can dedicate one or two Sundays a month (for approx 3 hours) for a minimum of 6 months. Volunteers must also be available for our three day GO Kids Camp (no overnights) Aug 10-12, 2018. We want some consistent, friendly faces for these amazing kids!
In addition to spending time with our children, several learning opportunities and events are included. Topics may include things like an intro session to trans children & their families, best practices for medical & mental health care, gender inclusion in k-12 schools, guest panel speakers, and so on.

Gender Diversity increases the awareness and understanding of the normal range of gender variations in children, adolescents, and adults by providing family support, building community, increasing community awareness, and improving the well-being for people of all gender identities and expressions. We do this work in the Seattle area, greater Puget Sound, and beyond.
Description
Gender Diversity provides support and resources to both transgender individuals and to families raising transgender and gender non-conforming children. Through our support groups, referral services, and community building conferences and events, we provide the tools needed to engage in healthy decision-making with respect to gender identity and overall well-being. Gender Diversity promotes a culture of acceptance and understanding by offering a wide array of professional and educational opportunities resulting in a broader network of support for the gender non-conforming communities.
